MediaInfo supplies technical and tag information about a video or audio file.

MediaInfo support various codecs (DivX, XviD, MSMPEG4, ASP, H.264, AVC, OGG, MP3, WAV, RA, AC3, DTS, AAC, M4A, AU, AIFF, SRT, SSA, ASS, SAMI...) and containers (MKV, OGM, AVI, DivX, WMV, QuickTime, Real, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VOB...).

There are several way to use it, one of them is the use of the DLL to get it integrated into eMule.

To integrate it into eMule and be able to see some more infos about the files you are downloading/sharing you just need to download mediainfo.dll from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=86862&package_id=90614

and extract the mediainfo.dll file in the same dir as eMule.exe.

The next time you will start eMule it will be able to detect more kind of filetypes and codecs, and will be able to show additional infos if available (like title, author, program used and such) in the in the file -> detail -> content tab.

If mediainfo is not available eMule will use some internal routines to detect same data, but it will fail with some kind of contect or codecs that it does not support.

At the time of writing the current version of MediaInfo is 0.7.4.5 and works correctly with eMule.

as an example and mkv file with x264 video and ac3 audio is seen in this way WITHOUT mediainfo.dll: my.php?image=hdjd3.gif and in this other way WITH mediainfo.dll: my.php?image=x264eo5.gif

Mediainfo is capable to deliver way more data (technical data) then what eMule can show in the content tab (only tags?), we will hope the capabilities of eMule (or others mods) will be extended ;)
